ABOUT THE CLIENT
DRINKING WATER FACILITY IN NORWAY
Located in Norway, a new innovative drinking water facility has been built, to deliver secure drinking water throughout the next 100 years in the cities of Granli and Sør-Odal.
The new facility will have an impressive capacity of 900.000 liters of water per hour, and despite regulations for a mandatory control visit each day, everything can be controlled remotely. Every day, 5.500.000 liters of water is collected directly from four boreholes, flowing through the facility’s water treatment path.
WHAT THE CLIENT NEEDED
PATHOGEN-FREE AND SECURE WATER
As part of the complex water treatment process, ultraviolet disinfection was included as the last step of the treatment process, to ultimately ensure pathogen-free water for the Norwegian cities Granli and Sør-Odal. The entire water treatment process is complex and consists of many steps, with UV treatment playing a vital role in terms of ensuring that the water is safe to drink and bacteria-free.
THE SOLUTION
VALIDATED UV SYSTEMS
Treating such a large volume of water sets high requirements for the UV disinfection step to function flawlessly in combination with the entire treatment path, taking cost-efficiency and long-term maintenance into account.
The specific project requirements resulted in the need of 3 validated drinking water UV systems, to be implemented in the last step of the water treatment process:
- 3x MR8-350 SSV
An important aspect to guarantee compliance with the defined disinfection requirements was the 3rd party validation, showing that the UV systems have undergone comprehensive biodosimetry testing according to the ÖNORM M 5873-1 standard. This was combined with the approval by the governmental research agency Folkehelseinstituttet in Norway, which allows ULTRAAQUA to distribute selected system ranges in Norway.
The 3 UV systems will now contribute to delivering pathogen-free drinking water for the people in the Norwegian cities in many years to come.
