Located within the Mall of Dilmunia, the largest cylindrical aquarium in Bahrain is found. The unique aquarium is over 17 meters tall and 7 meters wide, filled with over 700 cubic metres of saltwater and over 2500 tropical fish, rays, and sharks.
Implementing a project at such a large scale involved huge quality demands for the different Life Support System (LSS) components, processes, as well as applied technologies.
To properly protect the marine life in the aquarium, it was evident that proper disinfection protocols were required. To accommodate these needs, UV disinfection was included as a vital part of the entire installation, to keep organisms such as viruses, bacteria, and unicellular algae under full control.
Furthermore, the project involved a large emphasis on improving operational efficiency and sustainability, which was a perfect match for UV technology.
“The UV Sterilisers procured from ULTRAAQUA are an essential component of the Bahrain Aquarium’s Life Support System, which maintains a stable aquatic habitat for the thousands of tropical fish, rays and sharks within the aquarium. ULTRAAQUA’s PP UV systems are well suited to saltwater aquarium applications, with reliable performance, no metallic materials coming in contact with the saltwater and being easy to operate and maintain.”
