MUNICIPAL SWIMMING POOL IN SWEDEN
Burlövsbadet is a modern swimming facility located in Arlöv, just north of Malmö, designed to accommodate 200.000 visitors per year.
With four pools, including a 50-meter competition pool, a teaching pool, a multifunction pool, and a children’s pool, Burlövsbadet serves both families and elite athletes. It offers various activities such as group training, baby swimming, water aerobics, and more, fostering a space for community, wellness, and fitness.
The facility was constructed as part of Burlöv Municipality’s initiative to replace its aging swimming infrastructure and support the growing demand for recreational and professional swimming.
WHAT THE CLIENT NEEDED
EFFICIENT & SUSTAINABLE WATER TREATMENT
The client needed a highly efficient and sustainable water treatment system that could ensure superior water quality while managing the operational demands of a high-usage swimming pool. As the facility is designed for 200.000 yearly visitors, including elite athletes and families, water safety and hygiene were critical.
The new Burlövsbadet required a solution that could reduce energy consumption while maintaining stringent water quality standards. This included minimizing the use of chlorine to improve the overall swimming experience. InBlue was a key partner in this project in designing and integrating this solution.
THE SOLUTION
SUPERIOR WATER QUALITY UTILIZING UV
InBlue, a part of the ULTRAAQUA group, played a central role in the design and implementation of the new water treatment system at Burlövsbadet, completed in 2022. With a focus on sustainability and efficiency, InBlue was involved in the initial design phase to integrate innovative filtration and disinfection technologies.
The comprehensive solution for Burlövsbadet featured gravity filters for optimal energy savings, combined with ULTRAAQUA’s advanced UV disinfection systems. ULTRAAQUA’s UV technology was selected as an essential part of the water treatment path, due to its proven effectiveness in eliminating harmful microorganisms without the use of harsh chemicals.
The UV systems provided by ULTRAAQUA ensured that the water in all four pools met the highest hygiene and safety standards. This technology not only reduced reliance on chemical disinfectants like chlorine but also helped minimize harmful by-products, creating a safer and more pleasant swimming environment for visitors. Additionally, the UV systems contributed to significant energy savings, aligning with the facility’s goals for sustainability and long-term operational efficiency.
