FISH POND IN HONG KONG
Located in Hong Kong, the Nan Lian Garden features a crystal-clear Koi fish pond designed in the traditional “Tang Dynasty” Chinese style.
The pond is found in the heart of the breathtaking garden, featuring hills, wooden buildings, ponds, trees, and rocks, making it a place of complete peace and harmony.
WHAT THE CLIENT NEEDED
COMPLETE ALGAE CONTROL
To accommodate the easefulness of the beautiful garden, it was evident that crystal-clear and disinfected water of great quality was a must for the ponds. This naturally included keeping the algae levels in full control. This was a requirement both to ensure great water conditions for the Koi fish to thrive in the ponds, as well as to guarantee the visitors a good experience through ensuring crystal-clear water.
This led to the defined requirements of ensuring controlled algae levels, a consistent water clarity while living up to the defined disinfection protocol for the inactivation of selected microorganisms.
THE SOLUTION
OPTIMIZED UV DISINFECTION
The requirements of the client were a perfect match for UV technology, which is capable of keeping algae under full control while guaranteeing crystal-clear water and operational efficiency while using sustainable technology.
This led to the installation of the following UV systems:
- 2x MR8-350SS to treat a flowrate of 270 m3/h
- 2x MR6-350SS to treat a flowrate of 140 m3/h
The installed UV systems are now actively living up to the defined water treatment conditions of complete algae control, treating a total water flow of 820 cubic meters per hour.
This leaves the UV systems ready for ensuring algae control and excellent water clarity levels for many years to come while providing minimized maintenance requirements and excellent material durability.
To minimize the maintenance requirements, the ULTRAWIPER™ technology was included for all installed systems, to ensure a stable disinfection process, as well as minimized maintenance requirements. This means that the UV-C output levels from all lamps will be kept at operational levels by preventing any deposits from building up on the quartz sleeves.
