WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT IN GREECE
In Malesina, Greece, a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) was set to go through an upgrade of the existing conditions. A key aspect of this upgrade was to include a disinfection treatment step for successfully treating the wastewater. This led to utilizing UV technology to meet the increased requirements of the facility.
WHAT THE CLIENT NEEDED
CHEMICAL-FREE DISINFECTION TECHNOLOGY
The primary requirement for the disinfection step was to include chemical-free disinfection technology. This choice was driven by sustainability requirements as well as the increased standards for water quality.
The ultimate goal for the facility was to achieve effective chemical-free disinfection while addressing sustainability.
THE SOLUTION
UV SYSTEM OPTIMIZED FOR LOW UVT
To meet the requirements for chemical-free sustainable disinfection following the defined water treatment specifications, the right UV system was selected. This led to the installation of a MR18-350SS LOW UVT system, that was carried out in collaboration with Delta Co and Michaniki Perivallontos S.A. The system was integrated into the final stage of the wastewater treatment process, just before the final disposal of the water.
With a design flow of 192 m3/h, the LOW UVT UV system will provide a sufficient UV dose to successfully achieve the inactivation of the target coliforms and other chlorine-resistant pathogens. This means that the treated wastewater now meets the necessary quality standards while also aligning with environmental sustainability goals.
As the system features the automated ULTRAWIPER™ quartz sleeve wiping technology, a consistent disinfection process is guaranteed while ensuring minimized maintenance.
The plant will now reap the benefits of an advanced, efficient, and low-maintenance wastewater treatment process.
