The Viet-Uc Seafood Corporation is the largest shrimp postlarvae (PL) producer in Vietnam. Brilliant innovation has led them to large-scale indoor farming of Pacific white shrimp, accomplished through a partnership with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
The overall aim of the ambitious project was to increase the growth conditions and robustness of the shrimp to ultimately increase production yields, through the utilization of innovative technology. To do this, five commercial-scale experiments were established, providing the best possible conditions for the shrimp to thrive through health management and selecting breeding.
The project marks a point of reference for the future of aquaculture, proving a huge potential for state-of-the-art shrimp farms.
To establish and carry out such an innovative project, utilizing state-of-the-art technology was a necessity. Creating the future of aquaculture shrimp farming is perfectly aligned with the many advantages of UV technology.
To reach the overall goal of increasing production yields, it was necessary to manage the overall biosecurity risk. The wide range of benefits of UV technology made it a natural choice to implement UV systems, which are capable of complete disease control. As a result, the UV systems will have a vital positive impact on the general conditions of the shrimp, while avoiding bacteria outbreaks.
