Located in the Mall of Dilmunia, Bahrain’s largest cylindrical aquarium stands as an impressive attraction. This unique aquarium measures over 17 meters in height and 7 meters in diameter, holding more than 700 cubic meters of saltwater and housing over 2,500 tropical fish, rays, and sharks.
Executing a project of this magnitude demanded exceptionally high quality standards across various components, processes, and applied technologies of the Life Support System (LSS).
To adequately protect the marine life in the aquarium, effective disinfection protocols were essential. To meet these requirements, UV disinfection was incorporated as a vital part of the facility to control organisms like viruses, bacteria, and single-celled algae.
Additionally, the project emphasized enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability—an ideal match for UV technology.
“The UV sterilizers purchased from ULTRAAQUA are an essential component of the life support system for the Bahrain aquarium, maintaining a stable aquatic habitat for the thousands of tropical fish, rays, and sharks within the aquarium. ULTRAAQUA’s PP UV systems are highly suited for saltwater aquarium applications, offering reliable performance without any metallic materials coming into contact with the saltwater, and are easy to handle and maintain.”
