The research and development department to this day is the backbone of the company, therefore ULTRAAQUA UV allocates many resources for department activities. These activities ensure that we can support our customers with cutting-edge solutions and knowledge and that we constantly gather information about our products from hands-on experiences in very diverse environments. The main ULTRAAQUA UV research and development activities primarily consist of two areas: product optimization and development, and hands-on research of new solutions applied across a range of applications, usually in collaboration with local and international partners and institutions. In addition to ultraviolet disinfection, research work focuses on technologies such as UV based advanced oxidation processes, ozonation, and filtration of particles (particle analysis).
ULTRAAQUA UV has dedicated an entire department of engineers with a specialization in the design and construction of UV systems. With multiple years of experience in dealing with different applications in the field, the design specialists alter or adjust any standard UV system features to accommodate each case – by request or by recommendation. This greatly varies from adjustments such as reactor shape or flange size to adding new features that are not considered part of our standard UV systems. This, therefore, turns the ULTRAAQUA UV design department into a consulting agency, especially when working with large and complex projects. To deliver even more security for the clients, we have designed and installed indoor and outdoor testing facilities for closed vessel UV systems and open channel lamp banks.
All customized UV units go through integrated CFD, Fluence rate, and Particle tracing modeling analysis as well as the physical testing facility. Lastly, the design department is also deeply knowledgable and assists with installation details such as weir design, water level control devices, or any other project-specific attributes.
In ULTRAAQUA UV’s Research and Innovation department our approach is to bring fundamental science into product and solution development, and we use the concept of Virtual Prototyping (CFD) to accelerate this process. We support the commercial departments with high-level knowledge and products that are the best in the world in relation to solving water-related challenges in a wide range of applications.
The ULTRAAQUA UV Research and Innovation department comprises a team of ten people with B.Sc./M.Sc./PhD level education with a complementary background in environmental technology, physical chemistry, advanced modeling, mechanical engineering, and Technical Design.
We have 100m2 process and technology research laboratory equipped with a range of advanced and standard analytical equipment as well as several technology testing setups.
We are constantly involved in publicly funded national and European research programs and have well-established collaboration with a number of Danish and European Universities and Knowledge Institutes.
ULTRAAQUA UV over the years has designed and expanded a laboratory to accommodate all research activities. Completed with the latest equipment it provides our scientists with the ability to invent, test and scale.
ULTRAAQUA UV has designed and installed two indoor and outdoor testing areas. The testing areas enable the company to successfully test and scale new and optimized products. Furthermore, they greatly elevate quality control procedures for large scale projects.
The innovation department wouldn’t be what it is today without the brightest minds of the century. Teams consisting of doctorates and diverse field experts have contributed greatly to the overall company’s success.
ULTRAAQUA UV was founded by two scientists and since then the company’s values strongly relied on research and technology advancement activities. The company seeks to not only provide the best UV disinfection products but enhance the use of UV technology in multiple sectors.
ULTRAAQUA UV has been conducting research projects since its establishment in 1996. Over the years while actively developing commercial activities, the company also further expanded its R&D department. While some of the projects cannot be published due to confidentiality agreements, to learn more, choose the area of your interest below and see how ULTRAAQUA UV solved various water treatment challenges across the range of applications.
