For the Sjöbo Municipality in Sweden, ULTRAAQUA & InBlue were involved in designing and constructing one of Sweden’s most innovative and sustainable public swimming facilities in 2015.
The project addressed various needs of the community, including swimming lessons, public health, as well as providing a venue for the local swimming club.
The facility features a 25-meter pool, a multi-purpose pool, a children’s pool, changing rooms, a café, and a leisure area with saunas, experience showers, and a jacuzzi overlooking a nearby park.
The municipality wanted to create a swimming facility that accommodated the following core goals:
1) Public Health: A facility accessible to individuals of all ages, from infants to seniors, ensuring that it promotes well-being across the community.
2) Swimming Proficiency: Support for swimming lessons, helping the community meet swimming proficiency requirements.
3) Swimming Club Support: Providing high-quality facilities for the Sjöbo Swimming Club to continue training and competing.
A key requirement was to incorporate cutting-edge, environmentally friendly water treatment technologies to reduce energy consumption and operational costs. It also needed to guarantee excellent water quality, with minimal reliance on chemicals like chlorine, to ensure a healthier, more enjoyable experience for swimmers.
